Eastman Theatre was a first-run house. At the time of its opening, the Eastman Theatre was the third-largest motion picture venue in the United States, after the Capitol Theatre in New York and the Chicago Theatre in Chicago.

Today, the venue is operated by the University of Rochester, Eastman School of Music, and is the performance hall for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.
